The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has called on all beneficiaries of the Social Relief Distress (SRD) R350 grant to reapply for the grant. However, some beneficiaries have complained that their contact details have changed.

Sassa uses the contact details of beneficiaries of the R350 grant to notify clients when their money is available. However, if Sassa does not have this information, clients may not know when they can collect their money.

Here’s How To Update Your Contact Details For The Sassa R350 Grant

  1. Click Here to Visit The R350 Grant Website 
  2. Scroll to “How do I change my contact details”
  3. Click on the yellow bar which says “click here to change your cell phone number and/or email address”
  4. Enter your ID number and Application ID
  5. Click “Submit”
  6. Enter your Email Address if you have one
  7. Enter your cell phone number
  8. Click “Submit”
  9. Choose a reason for changing your cell phone number
  10. Enter the One Time Pin (OTP) you receive via SMS
  11. Click “Submit”

  2. Scroll to “Application status”
  3. Click on the yellow bar which says “click here to check online”
  4. Enter your ID number
  5. Enter your old cell phone number
  6. Your Application ID will then appear in the first line

SASSA offers three ways to change your details.

  1. Visit the Sassa website here or the SRD portal here.
  2. Phone Sassa’s toll-free call centre on 0800 60 10 11.
  3. Email [email protected]
Approved recipients may change or update their bank details by visiting the Sassa SRD website. Sassa reminds beneficiaries that the new banking details will only be used for future payments after it has been verified
Here’s how:
  1. Go to srd.sassa.gov.za.
  2. Submit your ID Number.
  3. An SMS containing a secure link will be sent to the mobile phone number with which you registered during the application.
  4. Click on the link in the SMS and follow the instructions carefully.
SASSA has said that once you submit your application and choose this as your payment method, you submit your banking details as part of your application process. This would make paying your R350 grant easier and faster. You will then be able to withdraw your R350 at any ATM.
According to SASSA, applicants can no longer collect their approved R350 grants through the Cash Send payment option. After #SASSA reinstated the SRD R350 grant, they said they are no longer going to use the Cash Send payment option anymore.
Note: If you have no airtime, dial *130*277#. This will allow you to buy airtime from the eWallet funds. Next, dial *120*277# to get an ATM PIN.
Clients have to visit https://srd.sassa.gov.za and click on the ‘how do I change my banking details’ tab in order to change their method of payment from cash send to personal bank accounts
Dial the USSD code *134*7737# and follow the screen prompts to show your balance. If the first USSD code fails, then use this one *120*69277# and follow the screen instructions to check your balance. All these approaches do not need airtime to operate because they are free services.
